Rare and beautifull; Mammatus clouds
The rare from these clouds is their formation, by descendent vertical currents.
While associated with thunderstorms, they are not necessarily an indicator of severe weather. Mammatus results from the sinking of moist air into dry air. It is in essence an upside down cloud.
If you are interested in clouds you should check the website of Cloud Appreciation Society.
Sensitive observation
Bringing patience and a microscope to bear on nature close up, examinating the richness of vegetal structures. Admiring the complexity of these fragile architectures, to see the bits of an structure, softened by a cellular roundness.
Adopting the precision of technical schemas, mixing sketches with hand written notes.
Lifting oneself contemplating the infinitely large sky and its imaginary paths.
Studying from very far away, to appreciate the rhythms, lines and curves. Drawing up maps, wandering through infinity.
Towards a new textile for paragliders
Just as within the field of aviation, the development of new materials plays a huge part in paragliding.
Until now, products constructed from lightweight cloth had a very limited life. Even after limited usage, the strength of the fabric was compromised and porosity substantially increased.
The innovation of this material is the process of weaving metallised fibers, …they don’t absorb the damaging UV rays.
Now an aluminum mixture lends the silver fibers their shine:
fine tuned build up of nanocoatings are the key to the stability of the metallised cloth.
This fabric, with the shiny metal surface and a weight of only 29g/m2, fascinates with its aging characteristics… multiple times higher than those of similar ultra light cloths.
Skywalk (paraglider manofacturer) together with Aeroix are developing this project.
Francisco Javier Santamaria
See how beautiful is this illustration by the fashion designer Fran Santamaria. They are poethic, strong and comtemporary with something that reminds me old illustrations: I think he is a talent to follow.
